Although shown 2nd in the Post Historic section above Martin Freestone/Chris Keyes crashed their Escort on stage 4, Brookhill. Just 2 cars got through the stage, Dessie Nutt and Steve Perez, with Perez 2s faster than Nutt. Freestone's accident was fairly major, Martin is reportedly uninjured while Chris has hurt his ribs. The accident happened after a crest and the car banged through some trees, reportedly there is a fair bit of debris on the road.

Steve Perez reports everything going well, but his Porsche showing just the slightest hint of clutch slip. While Dessie Nutt is having problems getting his 911 into 3rd gear. Dessie not sure if it is the clutch or the gearbox. Richard Gower has surprised everyone by holding 2nd place despite no experience of the car at all, Richard reports being held up slightly on the narrow bit of Ballaghbeama behind a slower car. Martin Ward in the Manta is having big gearbox trouble, didn't reckon the car would have got through the stage that was cancelled, but should be able to change the box here at service. Kevin Flanagan still has no oil pressure in his Mini but is battling on. Barry Duggan 10th in the Post Historics was slowed in Ballaghabeama when one of his Mk1 Escort heater pipes got caught under his feet. Dessie Nutt's bother Chris is driving Dessie's older Porsche and is 15th in the Historics, co driver Maurice Beckett telling us that the car seems just a bit down on power and the gearing isn't quite right. David Liddle in the left hand drive Triumph TR4 is 10th in the Historics, and reports no troubles. Aaron Tracey (Car 52) put his Mini over a wall on Ballaghbeama, and then had to cut a fence down to get out of the field. Virtually no damage, but young Aaron went from well up in the Post Historics to a solid last! Steve Loveridge has been going very well in his Mini, but has lost time catching slower cars. Martin Sheehan is driving with his left wrist plastered up, damaged on the Cork 20 and says he is having trouble getting the Escort round left corners, but at least his co driver Kieran Daly is managing well on the notes.
