On the 2nd visit to Molls Gap Dessie Nutt was again fastest of the Historics, but this time his Porsche was just 1s up on the similar machine of Steve Perez.  Richard Gower had been going extremely well in his Porsche, had got ahead of Nutt, but unfortunately Richard put the 911 off the road on Molls. Also stopped on the Gap was Stephen Hall's Triumph TR4 we think with mechanical problems.

There is still some doubt about Ray Cunningham's time first time over the Gap, the Mini man could well be further up the list than is shown above. We mentioned earlier that David Stokes had disappeared - his Escort went out with a mechanical problem.

Further stories include ….PJ McDermott losing several minutes when he got caught out on the gravel over Ballyaghbeam, thumped a wall and had to limp through the stage with damaged suspension. Dessie Nutt has had the clutch adjusted on his Porsche and is now finding it a lot easier to get gears.Martin Ward has changed the gearbox in his Manta, but still lost a few seconds in Molls Gap when he was delayed.
In the Classic section John Moynihan was again fastest through stage 5 by 6s from James O'Sullivan and Pat Donegan, who tied. Kieran O'Neill was 5s slower than O'Sullivan and Donegan with Jim McRae a further 4 back.More news later. BRIAN & LIZ PATTERSON (with thanks to Padraig Reddington)   www.rallynews.net
