Kevin Lynch is No.1 seed in his
Impreza WRC S9 for this weekend’s Limavady based Dogleap
Rally, round 6 of the NI Stage Championship. Dungiven man
Lynch is bidding to extend his lead in the NI series, and go
for the unique double of winning the Northern and Southern
Forestry series in the one season.
Tarmac Champion Derek McGarrity is at
2 on the Dogleap, in a Hyundai, Kieran Shaw, 2nd in
the NI Points with his Impreza WRC, is at 3. Visiting drivers
include Scotland’s Neil Dougan, while Dermot Kelly and James
Murphy, Escort WRC and Escort Cosworth, make the trip from
Cork.
Kieran Daly won the Ford Ka
Championship section of his home Cork Forestry Rally to move
into 3rd place in the series, with Daniel Barry
leading and Thomas O’Brien 2nd.
The Dunleer based North East Single
Stage scheduled for Sunday 15th August can still

Trevor Moore, a former winner of the
Dogleap and one of Ireland’s most exciting drivers in recent
years, is returning to stage action this weekend on the event
following a 9-month break. Moore has built a Mk2 Escort and
has vowed to compete, ‘just for the fun’.
Navan’s Paddy White is another
Irish driver entering the WRC Catalunya Rally, Paddy to drive
his new Prodrive built RHD Impreza WRC, to be run by Derek
McGarrity’s team. Paddy is also scheduled to compete on the
Ulster International and the Golden Tulip Rally in Holland.
Magherafelt MC’s Sunset Stage Rally
last Sunday was won by Glenn Allen in his Escort Cosworth.
Glenn finished 11s ahead of Camillus Bradley (Escort). Brian
Muldoon and Kieran Graffin 3rd and 4th
in their respective Group N Lancers.
Shane Braniff, well known competitor
and businessman from Co. Down has secured one of the Prospeed
Octavia WRC’s with also the rights to a second one. Shane is
running Mark Higgins in one of the cars on the Triton Showers
Lurgan Park Rally. Jonny Milner will also drive an Octavia.
