Cork lady Emily O'Mahony, who has campaigned both a Ford Ka and a Puma Super 1600 this year with some success, has won the Fisher Foundation Young Driver Safety Award, worth £7500. Ivan Fisher, speaking on behalf of the Fermanagh Trust who administer the Fisher Foundation, commented, "We were tremendously impressed with the quality of the candidates. Emily's commitment and strategy was a winning combination."

Ballyclare man Chris Patterson co drove Nasser Alattiyah to victory on last weekend's Dubai International Rally, final round of the Middle East Championship. The top 3 co drivers in the championship were all from the Emerald Isle, Michael Orr, Chris Patterson and Killian Duffy. 

Donegal man Adrian McElhinney was fastest of the Irish Peugeot 205 Challenge runners at the Mondello Rallycross, with James Stafford 2nd and Graeme Colfer 3rd, the latter moving into the overall lead of the Challenge. The next round is the Sligo Restricted Single Stage Rally on the 30th January 2005.

Rosemary Walsh, who is one of Motorsport Ireland's new appointed training officers for the NW region, has been appointed Clerk of the Course for the 30th January Sligo Stage event.

As well as Monaghan's Eamonn McElvaney receiving the Billy Coleman award worth Euro 32,000 at last week's Motorsport Ireland Alfa Romeo Awards lunch, runner up Peter Wilson from Kells received over 6,000 euro. Cork's Brendan Murphy was 3rd and received 4,000, which he then donated to the Crumlin Hospital for Sick Children.

Waterford's Ray Breen was an interested party at the Alfa Romeo awards, his 14 year old son Craig receiving the Junior Kart Champion award. Ray confirmed that he is ready to go with his newly acquired M-Sport Focus WRC and is going to make a very determined assault on the 2005 Dunlop Championship.

Hillsborough's James Coulter emerged the winner of the Superdrive Rally Scholarship, part of his prize a fully supported drive in a Mitsubishi Lancer on the opening round of the '05 NI Championship at Kirkistown in February.

Sadly the death has occurred, following illness, of well known and popular competitor 39 year old Eddie O'Hora. Mayo man Eddie competed with his brother Pat in their Kadett on the Dunlop and Border Championships over a number of years. The close knit community of Killala, and all Eddie's rally friends and family were shocked and extremely saddened at his death and we extend our deepest sympathies to them all.
