Notes 01.03.04
Former Peugeot UK works driver Garry Jennings has concluded a
deal to drive a new GpN Lancer, to be built by VRS, on the
Circuit of Ireland, Killarney Rally of the Lakes and Donegal
Internationals.
Magherafelt MC's popular Davagh Stage Rally, scheduled for
last Saturday, had to be postponed because of snow. Club
officials worked ceaselessly for 24 hours before the rally to
make the route tenable, but further snow thwarted their efforts,
particularly in relation to safe ambulance routes. A new date
will be sought .
Munster Joinery's Alan Ring has taken delivery of the very latest
Subaru N10, and has been testing the car in conjunction with
Pirelli, with a view to a run on the West Cork. Brian Duggan will
once again co-drive.
18 year old Brendan Murphy from Mallow is planning to compete on
this year's ANCRO Championship, starting with the Astra Stages,
driving a GpN Impreza. Brendan competed on the Wm Loughman
Memorial to get forest experience, driving a Subaru Leone.
Considering that this weekend's Mayo Stages Rally is on an
opt-out year from the Dunlop National series, although it is the
opening counter of the Quinn Group Border Championship, the event
has a jaw dropping top entry. Just some of the drivers in World
Rally Cars include Austin McHale, Niall Maguire, Adrian McElvaney,
Patrick Elliot and Kevin Lynch. Of particular interest will be to
see how the underrated Kieran Shaw, seeded at 15, goes in his
newly acquired Impreza WRC.
Top Marshal under the ANICC's Motorsport Marshalling Partnership
reward scheme is Ahoghill's Raymond Linton. H e will be a guest
of Peugeot at the Pirelli British Championship live event at
Nuneaton.
Regards, Brian Patterson.
