Seamus Donnelly, driving his Lancer, won last Saturday’s popular Magherafelt Motor Club’s Banagher Forest Rallysprint, with Paul Barrett 2nd in his Escort G3 and Eugene Donnelly 3rd in an Escort BDA.


Linda Conroy walked the 19 miles from Loughrea to the start of the Galway Summer Rally in Portumna before co-driving Martin Ward to a class win in his BMW M3. Linda’s effort was part of a fund-raising effort on the rally on behalf of ‘CROI’, a charity pledged to fight cardiac problems.


Ballinamallard based Fisher Engineering has stepped in to back the 11th September Fermanagh Lakelands Rally, the next round of the NI Stages Championship. George Ogle, the clerk of the Course, reports the entry for the popular Enniskillen based event to be filling up rapidly.


Although listed in the Ulster Rally line-up, Navan’s Paddy White, the current West Euro Cup Champion, has opted out due to business commitments and will debut his new Prodrive built right hand drive Impreza WRC S9 on the Tulip Rally in Holland.


Killarney Motor Club host the final round of the McCauley Trailers Forestry Championship this weekend. Although Kevin Lynch has the overall title sewn up the battle for 2nd will be between Kevin O’Kane and Pat Norris in their Subarus. The top 10 also features Dermot Kelly, James Murphy, Dominic McNeill and Patrick Elliott. Donie O’Sullivan, Alan Ring and Pete Willoughby are all down to drive hired Group N Lancers. The event is based in Castleisland and features 6 very good stages north of the town.


West Cork brothers Kevin and Martin Kelleher have taken delivery of an ex Natalie Barrett/George Philippedes Lancer Evo 6 and plan to contest their home Cork ‘20’ and Fastnet rallies. The brothers have tied up class 11 on the Dunlop National series, even with 3 rounds remaining.
