London based Limerick man Ollie O'Donovan, driving a McKinstry
Impreza S8, took victory on last weekend's 8 stage Clare
Rally. "It was hard work, very wet, slippery and muddy
stages" reported the delighted O'Donovan at stage finish.
Sean Gallagher (Subaru) was 2nd in Clare, Tim McNulty also in
an Impreza WRC 3rd, despite a puncture. Patrick Elliott had
led but braked late for a stage 3 chicane and his Impreza WRC
clipped a wall. 023 Tiles man James O'Sullivan won GpN in his
Lancer from Willie Fannin (Impreza N)
Robbie McGurk is the top seed for this weekend's Omagh MC
Bushwhacker Rally, penultimate round of the NI Stage
Championship. McGurk has hired a Derek Jobb GpN Lancer, his
own Mitsubishi being hired to New Yorker Liam Egan for the
event, with Eugene Donnelly co-driving.
Kieran Shaw (Impreza WRC) currently leads the NI series
points, and is seeded at No3 on the Bushwhacker, with Kevin
Lynch, also in a Subaru, at No2 and Shaw's biggest threat in
title terms.
Moneyreagh's Raymond Mason, fresh from winning GpN on
the Scottish Championship in his Lancer, has entered the
Bushwhacker.
Bushwhacker sponsor Brian McGillen has hired an Octavia WRC
for the event and is seeded just outside the top ten.
Kieran Graffin took his GpN Lancer to victory on last
Saturday's Cookstown MC Lafarge Cement Ireland Stages Rally.
James Cassidy was 2nd in his Escort G4, Declan McNaughton
(Escort Mk2) 3rd. Early leader and No1 seed Camillus Bradley
retired his Escort after stage 5 with mechanical trouble.
Enfield's Tom Holton was the highest placed finisher of the
Irish contingent on the Golden Tulip Rally in Holland, 11th
overall in his Celica. Shane Braniff was 21st in his Hyundai
WRC, Monaghan's Dessie Keenan managed a 2nd in class in his
Peugeot and Gordon Coleman also had a 2nd in class with his
Nissan Almera.
