Notes 5th July 2004.
Brian
Armstrong won last Saturdays North Armagh Motorcycle
and Car Clubs Loughgall stage rally, ahead of his Uncle
Norman Armstrong, both in Escorts. Crumlins Rodney White
was 3rd in his Sunbeam from the 80 entries plus reserves.
Donie
OSullivan expects to have his Focus WRC back on the
road by the autumn and plans to compete on the Wexford Rally,
the Cork 20 and then the Rally of Catalunya. Speaking
from his Killarney base, Donie comments, Im more
than disappointed to be out of the Tarmac Championship for
this year, so Ive looked at different avenues.
Paul Nagle will again co-drive.
Navans Paddy White competed on the Jim Clark in an older
model Impreza WRC hired from Derek McGarrity, but hopes to
take delivery of the first Prodrive built right hand drive
Impreza WRC S9 at the end of this month.
Kevin
Lynch increased his lead in the McCauley Trailers National
Forest Rally Championship with a fine win on last Sundays
Monaghan Forestry Rally, his 4th victory in the series. Lynch
now has 98 points, with former Champion Kevin OKane
moving into 2nd on 66. Brian Murphy was Lynchs closest
opponent, but due to his co-driving duties with Austin McHale
on the Jim Clark, missed Monaghan.
James
Cullen hopes to compete on the 14th August Triton Showers
Lurgan Park Rally in the Bobby King 4wd Porsche 911 he drove
on the Donegal International.
Niall
McShea unfortunately crashed out of last weekends Ypres
Rally and co-driver Gordon Noble ended up in intensive care
in a Belgian hospital with 2 broken ribs and a bruised lung.
Happily Gordon was due to be released fairly quickly and allowed
back to his Omagh home.
Last
week we wrongly reported that the Puma that crashed on stage
7 of the Ravens Rock Rally while doing course car duties was
driven by Trevor Harding. Owen Mulcahy in fact drove it.
Regards, Brian Patterson.
