Derek
McGarrity (Subaru) heads a strong entry for this
weekend’s Circuit of Ireland, with Eugene Donnelly at 2,
Austin MacHale at 3, Andrew Nesbitt at 4, Eamonn Boland at
5, Peadar Hurson at 6, Tim McNulty at 7, Kevin Lynch at 8
and Maurice Gass at 9.
The
Circuit is based in Enniskillen and starts at 10 on
Saturday morning from St. Angelo and finishes on Monday at
16.00 hours after 23 special stages.
Kieran
Shaw is the No.1 seed on the Easter Stages in his Lancer
with Glenn Allen at 2, Denis Biggerstaff at 3, Cahal
Arthurs at 4, Raymond Johnson at 5 and Craig Bennett at 6.
The Easter Stages runs on the Saturday. The
National part of the Circuit, running on Sunday and Monday
has Paul Gallagher at No.1 in his Corolla with Seamus
O’Connell (Escort) at 2 and Raymond Spence (Escort) at
3.
This
weekend’s
Tipperary
Forestry at Mitchelstown has attracted over 100 entries.
All the top McAuley Trailers championship regulars
are in the line up, including the first round winner,
young Gareth MacHale. The event is also the final round of
the Irish Peugeot 205 Challenge.
Former
NI Rally Champion George Robinson was hospitalised in
Italy
last week following a skiing accident and has been forced
to miss the Easter Stages.
Seamus
Leonard was a late entry for the Circuit of
Ireland
. His Group N
Lancer Evo 8 will provide formidable opposition for top
runners Roy White and Colm Murphy. Seamus
starts at No.10 replacing Gareth MacHale.
Glenn
Allen has taken delivery of a Corolla WRC from Italian
preparation company Step 2 and will compete on the Easter
Stages this Saturday and the Mitchelstown Forestry on
Sunday.
Motorsport
Ireland has established a Serious Incident Advisory Group which
will be on call in the event of any serious accidents or
public order incidents to advise and assist motor clubs in
all branches of the sport.
There are 5 senior officials on the new group, and
is being regarded as of major significance within the
sport in
Ireland
.
Jeremy
Taylor & Jonathan Patterson have switched from their
usual Micra to a Raymond Mason hired Group
N Impreza
to contest the Easter Stages.
Gareth
Lloyd steered his WWRS Escort to victory on the
West Cork
Historic section. The Welshman was also raising funds for
the Tsunami appeal through his drive. His only problem on
the event was a wayward temperature gauge.
John Farrell was 2nd in his RS2000, Todd
Falvey 3rd in his Porsche 911.
