Irish
Notes 31st July ’06.
Camillus
Bradley took his beautiful giant killing red
Escort Mk2 to a fine victory on last weekend’s
Magherafelt Club’s Davagh Rally, with Charlie
Beatty 2nd in his GpA Lancer. Johnny
Mckenna, with Niall McShea’s wife Noreen
co-driving, was 3rd overall and won GpN
from James Cullen. The narrow Davagh roads were
flooded at times in torrential rain, which made
Camillus Bradley’s brave drive all the more
noteworthy.
Kevin
Lynch, with Martin McNicholl co-driving in his
Impreza WRC, heads a strong list for this
weekend’s Limavady based Dogleap Rally, 5th
round of the NI Championship. Glenn Allen is at 2
in his Corolla WRC and Enniskillen’s Raymond
Johnston at 3 in his Impreza WRC.
Glenn
Allen currently leads the points with 60,
defending Champion Kevin Lynch is at 48 and
Raymond Johnston at 45. Martin Elliott is 4th o/a
and leads the GpN points, from Richard Hogg.
Kieran
Shaw is listed at 4 on the Dogleap in a Focus WRC,
but the KBB Doors man insists he will almost
certainly be driving his Lancer WRC. Kevin
O’Kane is at 6, followed by Richard Hogg in a
new GpN Lancer, with Martin Elliott at 8, also in
a Lancer. Brendan O’Hagan is at 9 in a Focus WRC
and the highest seeded
cross channel visitor is Tony Ormsby at 10
in his GpN Lancer. The Dogleap is employing such
classic stages as Springwell and Cam.
Enfield’s
Tom Holton in his Celica Gt4 tops a capacity 131
strong entry for the 9 asphalt stage ALMC rally
this Sunday, based just North of Kells. Hugh
Martin Doherty is at 2 in his Focus WRC and James
Foley at 3 in his GpN Lancer Evo 9.
Gwyndaf
Evans is the latest top name to be confirmed for
the 12th August Lurgan Park Rally.
Former British Champion Evans, a four time winner
in Lurgan Park, will drive a McKinstry Subaru
Impreza WRC, running in Hankook livery similar to
the GpN Lancer he currently drives in the British
series.
