Rally New No.3 Charterhall Service - Saturday 09.00 UNOFFICIAL FORMULA RALLY LEADERBOARD AFTER STAGE 2 - EDROM 1st (F2) Justin Dale/Andrew Bargery (Peugeot) 20.51.0 2nd (F1) Martin Rowe/Chris Wood (Ford Puma) 21.04.4 3rd (F5) David Higgins/Mike Gibson (VW Polo) 21.20.6 4th (F4) Mats Andersson/Claire Mole (Proton) 21.46.0 5th (F11) Simon Mauger/Keith Hounslow (Proton) 21.46.1 6th (F3) Patrick Magaud/Guylene Brun (Ford Puma) 21.51.4 7th (F7) Max McKillen/Nicky Beech (Saxo) 22.05.1 8th (F10) Ian Barrett/Andy Coupland (Proton) 24.31.8 9th (F6) Martin Sansom/Phil Wells (Peugeot) 24.37.4 10th (F8) Liam Brady/Greg Shinnors (Proton) 25.15.9 Stunning early morning sunshine and light mist shrouded the Berwickshire countryside as the lead drivers on this Formula Rally Jim Clark started the first of today's 12 stages. However, it was cold underfoot and the asphalt was deceptively slippy in places - not quite a frost on the surface but very close. That did not deter Justin Dale who continued where he left off last night by setting fastest time, this time it was David Higgins who was 2nd fastest, his Volkswagen Polo 5s down on the flying Peugeot. Martin Rowe was 3rd fastest, just over 2s back on the VW. Rowe's Ford team mate Patrick Magaud continues to drive steadily and hold 6th place. Mats Andersson and Simon Mauger are swopping spilt seconds in their race for 4th. Early news from stage 3 is that David Higgins was fastest from Max McKillen with Justin Dale 3rd on the time sheets, but still retains his overall lead. Despite his 2nd fastest time, Max McKillen in the Saxo, reports some fuel pump problem and has the hazard lights on. Still awaiting times from the National runners, but overnight the lead order was - Tim McNulty leading in his Subaru from Peadar Hurson in the Celica, then it was Dougie Hall, John Cope, Nigel Worswick and Barry Johnston in the Subaru Impreza WRC 6th. Looking further afield - to Australia Rally - Gronholm in the Peugeot WRC has a 24s lead over Richard Burns (Subaru) with Auriol 3rd, Rovanpera 4th and Colin McRae 5th in his Ford Focus. It looks as if Colin's contretemps over start positions did not cost him as dearly as was feared. Solberg was 6th, Makinen 7th, Panizzi 8th, Sainz 9th, Alister McRae 10th. Breaking news here on the Jim Clark - rally leader Justin Dale is apparently sidelined after a big jump in the middle of stage 4, Black Adder, his Peugeot has reportedly broken a driveshaft.
