Paul praised the organisers on running a top class event, this of course being the first closed public road rally in Ireland since the foot and mouth outbreak. Eamonn Boland and Anthony Nester have had a great run to second in their NVD Impreza WRC, Eamonn pleased to be rallying back home. David Armstrong nursed his ailing Escort Cosworth home to a fantastic third, the car pumping out plumbs of oil smoke at the finish, the crew unable to switch the car off after alternator failure. Roy White and Des Cooney take GpN honours today by a country mile, the young local driver proving his overseas results this year were no fluke, just being pipped for fifth place overall by Patrick Elliott. Elliott confessing himself pleased at having got on the pace in his new Impreza, while Michael Barrable turned up the wick over the final couple of stages to take fourth. In the Ford KA challenge John Carroll completely destroyed the opposition today, winning by almost two minutes from Trevor Harding and Gerry Keyes third. Jimmy Lambert had a great run today to take class 13 and a fine 8th overall, while Ed Synan takes class 12 and 18th overall despite road penalties. Well done to Tipperary Light Car Club on a superb event and many thanks to all those who helped no more room. Michael Patterson and Zoe Todd
