Stage 3, Mount Hilary, saw Kevin Lynch again fastest in his Subaru WRC, with Robbie McGurk in his hired Group A Impreza 2nd quickest but nearly 6s back, then 3rd fastest was Dominic McNeill a further 7s in arrears. Dominic lost time in stage 2 with a puncture of course, otherwise he would be a lot closer in overall terms. When Lynch arrived into service he described the Mt Hilary test as fast and good, and reported no problems with the car. Kevin O'Kan' and Pat Norris, 2nd and 3rd on the road reported no troubles. Dermot Kelly had his first clean run of the rally, but Dermot still a smidgeon off the pace. Robbie McGurk laughed when he described overshooting the flying finish of the stage, his only problem really being a spider in the car!!

Adrian McElvaney is still troubled with his Subaru gearbox jumping out of the ratios. Kieran Shaw is making no impression on the leaderboard, following a messy 2nd stage he lost more time in stage 3 when a sudden hairpin left became very sudden, and he stalled his Impreza WRC.

John Shanahan continues to set stunning times through his local stages and lead Group N. Stephen Moore was 3s off Shanahan's time through stage 3, Moore reporting a lack of handbrake. Other top group N runners include Patrick Elliott on a total of 19.20.0. James Cribben on 19.09.7. Pete Willoughby, 2nd in GpN, was slightly disappointed to feel his gearbox tightening up.

Paul Barrett still leads the 2 wheel drive category but lost some momentum in stage 3 when his Escort gearbox lost a few cogs. James Murphy is still just outside the top 10, James lost time in stage 3 when he stalled at a hairpin. Further stories include - Ollie Kierce (No.105) said when he came into service "We have 1 gear, no clutch, 1 wing mirror and 1 off!" Michael O'Donoghue put his SEAT on its roof in stage 2, still going. Paudie O'Callaghan retired his Starlet with a burst brake pipe. Denis Heaney re-designed the rear of his Subaru (62), still going. John Shanahan's brother Patrick retired his Corsa on the first stage with mechanical problems after working all week to get the car ready. 8 Ford Kas started the rally, 4 have retired, one of them being Brian O'Mahony with gearbox troubles. Gordon Coleman leads the Kas from Kieran Daly with Thomas O'Brien 3rd and Daniel Barry 4th.
