Niall Maguire although he
holds a fourteen second lead over Adrian McElvanney the rally
leader nearly threw it all away on stage three when he stalled his
Triton Impreza, Niall explained that they were going just a little
bit to hard into a junction and the car stopped under braking, co
driver Paul McLaughlin reckoned they lost about 15 seconds. James
Harrison’s retirement has been confirmed as a light roll in the
McKinstry Subaru, both crew members are okay, but unfortunately
they blocked the second stage which had to be stopped, all crews
being awarded Niall Maguire’s time.
Also out is Kevin Lynch, the
KPL driver is pulled up in a farmyard on the third stage. Alan
Nesbitt has made it here to service, but only after struggling
through stage three with no clutch in his Celica, and with no
means to fix the stricken machine he and co driver Enda Sherry
have been forced to retire in service.
David Armstrong has no fifth
gear in his Escort WRC, while the same problem is also affecting
Mark Courtney in his Celica. Glenn Allen still has no intercom,
his total is now 26.46 which puts him just off the above
leaderboard. Cathal Arthurs reports no problems with his recently
acquired Hyundia Accent WRC, he and Jakes Kelly lying in a strong
4th overall.
Kevin Barrett is having a
good run and is well inside the top ten, but the Triton man
reported that he was lucky on the first stage this morning when he
broke a rim on his Impreza.
Dessie Keenan continues to
lead GpN but Gabriel Martin is putting in a strong showing and
lies only eleven seconds down in that race. The 2wd battle is just
as close, Mac McKenna leads from Enda Keenan, Enda was late
starting the first stage when his intercom broke. Maurice Moffett
is another one with intercom problems in his Starlett, the local
engineer loosing time with a spin in stage three.
