Aaron MacHale was true to his word and pushed hard over stage six clipping two seconds from Patrick Elliott’s lead. Aaron was met by his father Austin and brother Gareth who were both on hand to give advice about tyres but Aaron seems to have it under control and admitted to pushing but found the stage reasonably grippy despite the rain showers. Patrick Elliott was focused but still happy enough at the stage finish and had a trouble free run. Michael Barrable also had a good run with third fastest time, five seconds slower than Elliott. Glenn Allen was a further five seconds slower than Barrable and reckons that some sort of sensor was maybe broken on the top of the engine and certainly for that stage he reported no misfire. Niall Maguire was only two seconds slower than Allen despite a very hairy high speed moment, Niall telling us “absolutely on it in sixth gear, next thing big slide, bit moment”. Sean Gallagher nipped a second from Triton man Kevin Barrett to move into sixth as these two continue to have a great battle for position.

Michael Curran went fastest in GpN “we bolted on a new set of tyres for the first time today and it is amazing the difference they make”. Michael’s time for the stage was 7.32 equal with Kevin Barrett and 2 seconds faster than Seamus Leonard. Seamus really is enjoying his rally today and was laughing again at the stage finish as he recounted how well they are going and has a pretty dominant lead in the GpN class now. Kevin Kelleher had another clean run but admits to having no answer to the pace of the GpN leaders. Willie Fannin set another good time of 7.39 but his total puts him over a minute behind.

Rodney Wilton was impressive again in his Mk2 recording a 7.43 while Gary McPhillips matched Wilton on that stage but ultimately he is just under 30 seconds behind at this stage in the day. Ian Barrett is still not happy with his pace in the GpN Trition Impreza and he lies just off the leaderboard with a total of 1.06.03 while Alan Ring also hovers just outside the top ten on a total of 1.05.40.
