Michael Barrable was fastest through stage 3. Kenny McKinstry quickest on stage 4.  However, through that 4th stage, Mount Kid, the leading drivers may have broken the bogey time, so the above totals may have to be adjusted later. McKinstry purposely took it a bit easier through stage 3, Mt Gabriel, as it is such a bumpy narrow road that it is very easy to do damage to the car.  Otherwise McKinstry reports no problems. Barrable reckons that he is only now getting over his Galway accident, starting to get into his stride, the confidence getting up.

Melvyn Evans had been 2nd after the first 2 stages but parked his Subaru at the end of stage 3, a damaged exhaust manifold making it too dangerous to continue. This brought Liam McCarthy up into 3rd, Liam going better through stages 3 and 4 than he had earlier, reckoning his tyre choice left something to be desired.

Ollie O'Donovan can hear a rattle at the back of the, doesn't think it is serious, but his times dropped very slightly on stage 4. Tommy Graham got a big fright in an earlier stage and backed off very slightly through stages 3 and 4.  Nigel Hicklin had a wrong tyre choice, still in the top 10.  Cahal Arthurs has speeded up well, total now 34.48, 11s behind Steve Fleck, these 2 battling for the Get Connected championship title.

Denis Cronin has crumpled the front of his BMW, landed into the middle of Phil Collins' accident and couldn't avoid hitting the car.  Otherwise Denis is going well.  Interestingly, unofficially we now have James O'S'llivan as 2nd best 2 wheel drive, the 023 Tiles man also by our reckoning leading class 13 and on a total of 35.07.  One of his closest rivals is David James on 36.35.

In Group N Kieran O'Callaghan is 12s ahead of Willie Fannin in the Subaru, although Willie was held up by the struggling Damian Cole, Damian's Darrian suspension not to his liking.  Some other totals include - Tony Davies 35.09 and still bedding into the new car. Guy Woodcock 35.15 and thoroughly enjoying his class leading run in his Escort Maxi.  Anthony O'Halloran on 36.22.
In the World Championship Catalunya Rally Panizzi has won after a last minute charge in very wet conditions, Loeb 2nd. Kris Meeke/Chris Patterson have finished 2nd Junior.  On the Tempest Latvala leads overall from Austin McHale and Roy White leads group N from Neil Buckley - Roy into the top 6….More news later.
