These two have moved ahead of the field now, their closest pursuer Liam McCarthy quite a few seconds off the pace. McKinstry reported no problems at the end of that Mizen Head test. Barrable observed "It was a good stage for us, went well. It's the first time I've really driven well since the Galway accident". Liam McCarthy and Patrick Elliott, 3rd and 4th on the road now as well as holding those positions overall, both reported clear runs. Ollie O'Donovan reckons his Subaru is suffering some sort of ECU difficulty. While Pete Doughty reports that his Escort WRC clutch is starting to slip. Denis Cronin was happy with his stage time, equal in fact to Liam McCarthy, Denis saying that it was the first stage he had really got into stride since his problem on stage 2 when he collided with Phil Collins' crashed Escort. Tommy Graham was another to turn in a quick time on stage 5, the Prosperous man discovering some tyres that he hadn't used for a while and he finds to be really good for him. Willie Fannin was quite a bit faster than his nearest gpN rival Kieran O'Callaghan through that 5th stage, Willie moving into the unofficial lead of the category. Some further times just outside the leaderboard include David Armstrong on 34.31. Steve Fleck, still on course for the Get Connected champion title, 44.28. Cahal Arthurs in the Celica on the same time. Tony Davies 45.18. Latest news on the Peugeot 206s on the Tempest is that Chris Moore has moved into the lead with Gareth McHale in close attendance. Garry Jennings leads the Super 1600 from Leon Pesticcio. Latvala leads overall from Austin McHale. More news later.
