Sean Gallagher made no mistake through the third and final stage of this Bio tech Banna Beach Rally.  Sean had over 30s in hand starting the stage, and in the darkness and light rain could afford to ease back ever so slightly, but still set fastest time to win.  Pat Donegan finished 2nd as he had been through all the stages while Mike Quinn retired on that final stage, to let Tom Randles into the final podium place.

"It was a brilliant day, the car went perfectly and we had a great run" commented Carrick on Shannon car dealer Sean.  With Killarney man Paul Nagle on the notes they were the dominant force today.  Sean, who describes himself as being on the wrong side of 40 won the Midland Rally earlier in the year, to make this his 2nd outright rally victory.  Second placed Pat Donegan had brake problems in the final stage and had to slow his Escort on the gearbox, so all the more credit to him. Tom Randles reckoned that any chance of 3rd place had gone when his wipers gave trouble on that 3rd stage, so he was all the more delighted at the finish.

Further stories include - Ray Hilliard losing a certain top 6 place when his Group N lancer went into a massive spin in stage 3 and clipped several banks, happily with no huge damage, but a 50s time loss.  4th placed Sean Lyons had a problem with the lights on the last stage, and he dropped a few seconds. Gary McPhillips was another to retire on the last stage with suspected engine problems. Fergal Costello was just inside the top 10 after stage 2 but dropped back slightly when his Impreza stalled at the bad hairpin left. Willie Power did well to finish 9th, he is still learning his Darrian and reckons it is geared a bit too low.

Provisionally we have Sean Lyons winning the Top Part West Coast championship, but this has still to be confirmed. Some times just outside the above leaderboard - John Kearney 25.27, some quick times towards the end from John but their first stage puncture deprived them of a top result. Desmond & Peter Keohane 25.24. Dan Mulcahy 26.20. John Danagher 26.28. Ken O'Neill in the Corsa 26.14 and possibly a class winner.  Finally for now many thanks to all who helped and supported the RallyNews service, and well done to all at Kerry MC for a great day's fun rallying.
