102 cars from the original 147 are still running on this Killarney Rally of the Lakes and there were no major changes to the overnight results.
Main points of interest this morning at the top end of the leaderboard - will Eugene Donnelly's Impreza head gasket hold out and can he resist the pressures of Austin MacHale behind.  Austin really got into his stride on the late Saturday afternoon stages, and is looking extremely relaxed and confident.  Derek McGarrity slipped back to 5th with his penultimate Saturday stage accident, and can he climb back up the leaderboard this morning. It looks like another extremely wet start to the day - hopefully drying up later.

Overnight class leaders include - Harry Cathcart, despite his Suzuki Swift breaking a front strut on Molls Gap yesterday.  Martin Browne leads class 2 from the similar Civic of local man Jimmy White. Kevin O'Donoghue leads cl.3 from the Honda Integra of Alan McMahon. O'Donoghue finished well up the leaderboard on the Circuit and is on his way to doing it here also, 26th overnight.  James Cullen has retired his Civic. Class 4 is for the big gpN machinery, with the amazing Trevor Cathers leading from Dickie Curran. Aaron MacHale 3rd despite a puncture and suspension damage in Ardgroom. Roy White 4th. In Class 5 Pat Kearney in his Peugeot 206 leads from the Micra of Michael Herbert. Despite a final Saturday stage accident Alan Ring still leads cl.7 from young Glenn Wilson, both in Peugeots, Alan in a 206, Glenn in a 106.  Colm Murphy leads cl.7 from John Foley with Oliver Stanley 3rd. These 3 are all part of the Ford Ireland Focus Championship.  Ken O'Neill leads cl.9 from Noel O'Sullivan, Corsa and Escort respectively. John Tully leads cl.10 in his Escort from Lloyd Hutchinson in his amazing Mini Cooper. Tom Halliday leads the hotly contested cl.11 from the similar Escort of Wesley Patterson, with Padraic Price 3rd in another Escort, James Foley 4th in a Honda Civic. Halliday has pushed his Escort up to 19th overall.

Denis Cronin leads cl.12 in his BMW M3 from the Vauxhall Chevette of Willie Power. Kieran O'Neill put his Kadett off the road on Molls Gap. John Hickey leads cl.13 in his Celica.  Tom Holton retired his Celica, not with mechanical problems, but because he could not see out the misted up screen.

Class leaders in the Historic section of the rally are….Martin Freestone in his RS1600. Liam Sheehan in his Escort. Niall Creighton in  his Cortina and Eddie Cronin (Morris Cooper). Frank Cunningham leads the Historics overall in his Mini Cooper S.  More news later. BRIAN AND LIZ PATTERSON
