Donie O'Sullivan was once again fastest over Molls Gap, a repeat of yesterday's
performance. The weather was something similar as well, streaming wet roads
making the going difficult for the drivers. Eugene Donnelly felt he was quick at
the start of the stage, but slightly slower towards the end. Eugene was just 3s
slower than Donie and 2nd fastest. Austin MacHale was 3rd fastest even with a
spin. Liam McCarthy had a slow time, his Corolla WRC perhaps suffering
from some sort of differential problem.
Denis Cronin in the BMW was another slowish time, Denis struggling to find grip
with the 2 wheel drive machine. Tim McNulty's Impreza was in the wars with
punctures, Tim going very slowly and could be out. Roy White admitted to
being "a small bit aggressive" with the clutch on his FESP backed
Lancer, and paid a heavy price, the car breaking the diff off the start line of
Molls. Westley Patterson was battling with Tom Halliday for class honours,
but he his Escort has stopped. Paddy White had a good time, his Impreza WRC
clutch now changed.
