Early retirements on this Ravens Rock Rally include Melvyn Evans whose Subaru Impreza WRC stopped on a bumpy section in stage 1. Not a good day for the Get Connected series leader.  Not great either for Tony Davies who crashed his Subaru heavily after a stage 1 jump.  Patrick Elliott is running down the order, his Subaru ignition cutting out in stage 1.

Out at the front of the rally Eugene Donnelly felt that his tyres were too soft a compound for the now very hot conditions. Michael Barrable punctured a front tyre near the end of the 2nd stage, lost a bit of time.  Michael was 2nd fastest on the first stage - Jim Harrison was fastest.  Eugene Donnelly was quickest on stage 2.

Adrian McElvaney was another to pick too soft a compound tyre, although Adrian is going very well.  Noel Redmond is just outside the leaderboard on a total of 15.09, his Subaru WRC suffering a slipping clutch. Ray Breen's Metro is on 15.24, the Waterford man reporting that the car's suspension was way too soft.  Steve Fleck lost time when he caught Tony Davies. John Dalton had a good run, his first time out in the Darrian, John suffering cracked ribs from before the rally.  Nigel Hicklin is having his first run in an Impreza WRC, his time 15.00, good enough for 12th overall, Nigel saying "Taking it steady, trying to figure what all these buttons and switches are for". Richie Curran told us that there is oil from a breather going on to the left rear tyre.  Surprising really as it is a brand new engine, although maybe it is old oil lying in the waste system.Cahal Arthurs set 2 good times despite his Celica suffering brake fade, Cahal wanting new pads fitted at service.

In Group N Eoin Doyle appears to be the pace setter in his new Subaru, Eoin's total 15.14. Kieran Molloy is on 15.24.

Other stories include - David James feeling that his Escort has no grunt, his total 15.36. Derek Smith seems to have retired his Escort. Willie Fannin in the gpN car is on 15.16. Michael Shaw 16.04.  Michael bedding himself in to his rebuilt Lancer.  Padraig Price in the Mk2 Escort is suffering from flu but still set 2 nice times, total 15.24. Kieran O'Neill went very hard, total 15.10, just outside the leaderboard. Anthony O'Halloran lost time, his Manta engine dropping a plug lead. Anthony's total 16.12. John Rooney is his newly acquired BMW finds the car very different from his Mk2 Escorts, his total 15.43. Jack Slater is on 15.33 in his gpN Lancer.
