Seamus Donnelly, driving a Mk2 Escort, came out best of the 80 starters on last Sunday's Sperrins Crystal Stage Rally. Camillus Bradley, also in an Escort, was 2nd, Derek McGeehan 3rd driving Eugene Donnelly's  Celica GT4, on the five tarmac stage event around Davagh.

The ALMC Stages event, scheduled for the 25th August, has been called off. Ian O'Flynn reports that the club will start work shortly on next year's event.

This Saturday's Limavady based Dogleap forest stage event is round 6 of 9 of the NI Championship. Defending Champion Denis Biggerstaff has currently a one point lead over Derek McGarrity - 46 points to 45. Just a handful of points cover the following five drivers - Gary White is 3rd on 42, James Gillen and Trevor Moore tie for 4th with 40 and Eugene Donnelly and Stephen Whitford tie for 6th with 39.

Last year's winner Trevor Moore in his Escort Cosworth heads a healthy 100 plus list for the Dogleap, with Derek McGarrity (Subaru) at 2, Denis Biggerstaff (Metro 6R4) at 3,  Eugene Donnelly (Celica GT4) at 4.

Richard Hogg is switching from his Lancer to a McKinstry Subaru for his home Dogleap Rally and could well spring a winning surprise. Hogg is seeded at 5, former Southern Forestry Champion Dermot Kelly, making the trip all the way from Limerick, is at 6 in his Escort WRC.

The euro16,000 prize fund Ford Ireland Focus  Championship starts in earnest on this Sunday's Stonetrhower's Rally in Tipperary. Eight of the Ford Focus 2.0 litre kit car specification machines will tackle the event. The Focus drivers had a toe in the water outing at Punchestown, where Oliver Stanley and Brendan Kelly were the front runners.
