A sudden heavy rain shower made stage 3 very slippy and even the fastest man through it, Kris Meeke, said at stage finish. “We had no real moments but it was tricky and now there is mud pulled out as well on some of the junctions and that is very slippy”. Kris was 1s slower than his stage 2 time but was a lot faster than anyone else. McKinstry was nearly 3s down and McGarrity over 6s down. McGarrity had led the rally after stage 1 but a mistake at a chicane early in stage 3 cost him dearly. Kenny McKinstry echoed Meeke’s words when he said. “Very slippy”. Kevin Barrett commented. “That was interesting”.
Derek McGeehan observed. “It was wild slippy under braking we were locking up everywhere”. Stuart Biggerstaff in the mighty Metro 6R4 said. “I was a bit disappointed to be a couple of seconds down, I thought it was quicker. “ Stuart is being co-driven today by Danny O’Carroll of TV series Mrs Brown’s Boys and Stuart continued. “I’m not able to scare this man beside me at all, he keeps calling for more!”
In class 7 Jimmy McRae has dropped to 3rd having missed a gear change on stage 3. Raymond Johnston now leads from Drew Wylie. Bob Adamson is 4th and Todd Falvey in his Porsche is 5th.
