After stage 2, Torr Head, Darren Gass moved into the lead. He was 1s ahead of Derek McGarrity. Darragh O’Riordan was 3rd and Garry Jennings 4th. In stage 3 McGarrity nosed in front by half a second from Gass.

In Rally NI after stage 2 Keith Cronin led by just over 7s from Elfyn Evans with Osian Pryce 3rd, Tommy Doyle 4th, Jonny Greer 5th and Alastair Fisher 6th.

Craig Breen is Ooing in the new Peugeot 208 and he set the tone when he commented at the end of Torr Head. “It is very treacherous out there, rivers running down the road and lots of gravel.” Sure enough, when Derek McGarrity arrived at stage finish he reflected that view and commented that he had no gravel note crew, so he just had to take it as it was. Garry Jennings was not happy at stage finish. The handbrake was not working on his Impreza. Darren Gass, although he was fastest over Torr Head, said. “Difficult to have confidence”. Cork man Darragh O’Riordan said. “Really enjoyed that, it was a great challenge”. Steve Perez reported a spin on the first stage that knocked his confidence and said about Torr Head. “Another world”. Robert Barrable was playing catch up having spun his Skoda on stage 1. Vibrating brakes on his Lancer hampered Stephen Wright.

In Rally NI Keith Cronin said of his Torr Head run. “I’m happy with that”. Mark Donnelly complained of his Clio not flat shifting in the gears. Elfyn Evans, doing such a fabulous job so far, said. “That was tricky. Some sections I was cautious where it mattered and then went hard in other places”. Guy Wilks, who is on development work with the new Twingo, said. “We are here to do a job and that is to develop the car. We are still a bit away”. Desi Henry picked too hard a compound for the front tyres. Tommy Doyle had a great run on the first stage, not quite so good on the 2nd when he lost hi confidence after a few big moments. Reports coming in suggest that the Torr Head stage is stopped. Finnish drive Jussi Kumpamaki has reportedly crashed his Fiesta. He has the OK board up. Lat4est news on it is that the following cars are being diverted while the Fiesta is being removed.

Some non-starters from the original published list include: Rodney White, Gene Meegan, Alan Nesbitt, Connor Corkill, Graham Waite, Josh Moffett, Enda McNulty, Sean Agnew, Ryan Loughran.

Robert Barrable has switched from Rally NI to the Ulster Rally category and is driving his Skoda S2000.
