Darren Gass was fastest through stage 2 even though he is struggling with his Subaru brakes fading. Well, not so much fading as the pedal going right down. To add to Darren’s woes he has a very heavy cold and did not sleep last night.

Donegal man Declan Boyle struggled a little because of intercom problems and also caught Denis Cronin in the stage. Denis is still trying to settle into his Subaru. Sam Moffett felt he was going hard but his Lancer’s tyres were still cold coming off the stage. Roy White was red in the face coming off stage 2 and he said. “My arms are hanging, the power steering has gone completely”.

Frank Kelly reported a few wild moment sin stage 1 when his Escort was getting very sideways, however after stage 2 he said. “That was much better, the tyres ere right for that one although there were still bits and pieces that could have caught you out”. Owen Murphy’s co driver James O’Brien told us. “Sure isn’t it a beautiful harvest morning”. Kanturk man James continued. “Its greasy underfoot but it is Cork and it is October”. As regards the rally, he said they had a good run through stage 2 and continue to lead group N. Denis Moynihan in the Mk1 Escort had 2 spins in stage 1 but then had a good run in stage 2. Joe McGonigle in his Clio caught Brian O’Keefe’s Impreza in SS2 and lost a few seconds. David Carney, the current Citroen leader, had a small overshoot in SS2 and Kieran Daly was actually fastest Citroen through that stage.
