The earlier question mark over stage 1 time of James Stafford seems to have been resolved and the results now show Stafford fastest by quite a margin and leading by 40s from Frank Kelly. Interestingly, Kelly was not 2nd fastest on stage 3, that honour went to Alan Ring, who is only 2s behind the flying Kelly Escort. Colm Murphy has got his drive shaft worry sorted out on his GpN Impreza, and he set a good time through stage 3. Colm is just 22s behind Frank Kelly so the battle for Top Part West Coast Championship honours is far from over.

Roy White also had a good run through stage 3 and although the power steering on his MG S2000 is a bit notchy he reckons that is the way it will be for the rest of the afternoon and hopefully will get no worse. Roy`s engineer Tom Gahan has fitted a softer spring in the mechanism and that is the reason.

Daniel Cronin and his co-driver Sean Duggan put their Civic through a gate into a field in stage 1 and got bogged in. They just could not get the car back on the road. Tom Relihan reports a slightly slipping clutch on his Mk1 Escort, and although he has set decent times over the first 2 stages it is going to be a struggle to the get the car through to the finish. Patrick Lawlor in the black Civic lost the oil cap from the top of the engine so he was besieged with fumes through the first stage and managed to get a cap somewhere for the start of stage 2. Liam Higgins in the Lancer at No.86 had a bit of a moment on the first stage when one of the tyres developed a huge bulge. He got the wheel changed between stages.

Cal McCarthy is now up to 12th o/a and is 12s ahead of Neil Pierce in the battle for class 11F. Eddie Power in the Corolla WRC had a slow time in stage 3 to drop outside the top 10 into 13th.

With one short stage to go on Rally Spain and Craig Breen/Paul Nagle maintain 6th place and a substantial lead in the SWRC. Loeb is on course for another win with Latvala 2nd.
