James Stafford/Amy Ryan in their Darrian continue to set fastest times to lead the rally by 50s from Roy White/Martin Brady in the MGS2000. Frank Kelly had been 2nd starting stage 4 but Frank was delayed at the accident of Mike O`Leary in his OOing BMW. Colm Murphy then lost a few seconds getting past the Kelly Escort and the two finished the stage more or less in tandem. This means that there is still a battle for the Top Part West Coast Championship.

Colm Murphy commented. “I can not go any faster on the bends and I am flat out on the straights!” Roy White said. “Everything is perfect”. Frank Kelly said about his delay. “S..t happens!” James Stafford admitted that he was going very hard in his Darrian this morning but is now starting to back ever so slightly. Barry Ryan in 6th said he is going as hard as he can but the car does not have any more top speed. John Hendy in 9th and leading class 13 said the clutch in his Corolla is banjaxed but he is still going. Frank Sweeney is down in 14th place and the differential on his Escort is reportedly roaring even louder than his co-driver Jane Coogan reading the notes!

Tommy Mason lost a few moments with a spin at a hairpin in stage 3. Mark Nangle is in 17th place in his Impreza and a few bumps and scrapes on the front mudguard were a reminder for Mark of a high speed brush with a hedge in stage 4. Stephen McCann in the Lancer is now into 11th. Eddie Power in the Corolla WRC is in 12th and Cal McCarthy 13th and leading class 11F in his Civic.

On the WRC Rally de Espana Sebastien Loeb has won by 7s from Latvala. Even more importantly from an Irish viewpoint Craig Breen/Paul Nagle have finished 6th o/a in their Fiesta S2000 and have won the SWRC, both on the rally and the overall world title. That is two FIA World titles for Kilkenny man Breen which is the most fantastic rally achievement.
