With the sun continuing to split the stones on the Mountains of Mourne the front runners are still hitting a hot pace with Darren Gass hottest of all. Darren did a time of 8m02s on the first run over that Black Hill stage this morning. On his third run over this afternoon he covered the 8.5 miles of Black Hill in 7m49s. Darren said at stage finish. “We have plenty in hand. The car is going well”. Derek McGarrity in 2nd place told us. “We raised the back of the car a couple of millimetres and it has transformed it. It is really fantastic now. But I have stopped pushing and I am safe in 2nd place”. Paddy McVeigh in 3rd had a bit of a moment when his Subaru ran wide on a 5 left corner but with 2 stages to go Paddy is not now pushing too hard. Kevin Barrett and Derek McGeehan had exactly the same time through the stage.

Frank Kelly turned in a real scorcher, almost 6s faster than David Armstrong and at stage finish Armstrong could only shake his head and say. “I think Frank was only playing with us”. Damien Toner in the GpN Lancer reported a bad misfire. Rory Byrne had a decent time through the stage and his total now is 1.03.22 which should him just outside the top 10 and group N leader.
