The first two stages today have brought more than their fair share of problems. Although conditions are mostly dry there are still some damp and slippy patches and several drivers have got caught out and crashed out of the rally. The first to go was young John McCrone and his co driver Phil Pugh. They crashed their Citroen in stage 8, Sloughan Glen. The initial reports were that both driver and co driver were shaken but unhurt. However McCrone has been taken to hospital and is having is back X-rayed. On stage 9 both Jon Armstrong and Joe McGonigle crashed. Young Armstrong and co driver Karl Atkinson were up to 3rd o/a but their Fiesta is reportedly well off the road and will be going no further today. Joe McGonigle and co driver Ciaran Geaney were lying just outside the top 10 o/night and their Clio went off the road quite close to the Armstrong incident.

In the Ulster Rally category after 2 stages this morning Garry Jennings has opened up an almost 1m lead despite his Subaru having further brake troubles. For 2nd placed Derek McGarrity it is now a question now of just keeping going and also keeping an eye on Donagh Kelly behind. Kelly seems to be going a lot better today as he settles into the left hand drive Focus. Josh Moffett is very secure in the Group N lead and 4th o/a. Following his turbo troubles Stephen Wright is now, a bit like McGarrity, just keeping going for the finish.

In Rally NI Osian |Pryce reported no problems this morning and said. `We are trying to make no mistakes, pick out the slippy bits, brake early for the junctions`. Mark Donnelly has found a much better pace this morning and he was 12s faster than Jonny Greer through SS9. Jonny has had some brake problems and is going to change back to pads that he used earlier in the year.
