10th (26) Vincent McSweeney/Michael Kearney (Civic) 57.09.7

On the 2nd run over the Mt Gabriel stage Denis Cronin put his intercom problems behind him to set a fastest time, his Impreza WRC crossing the line 5s up on the Daragh O`Riordan Fiesta WRC. Roy White continues to hold 3rd place but as the 2 world rally cars in front take advantage of the improving road conditions the time gap between Roy White`s MG S2000 and the WRC machinery in front continues to widen.

In the battle for two-wheel drive honours Declan Gallagher re-asserted his authority over Jonathan Pringle in stage 6 by setting a time 10s faster. Gallagher had to accept 2nd best to Pringle in stage 5 which was down to Declan`s tyres going off. Wesley Patterson`s times are back in the computer system to show him 6th o/a. Wesley was trying a longer gear ratio on his Escort this morning but is going to revert back to the short ratio for the final 3 stages to see what difference it makes. He is refusing to get sucked into the Starlet & Escort battle in front of him, his focus totally on the Southern 4 championship.

Dan O`Brien seemed a bit happier with his performance through the last few stages but at the same time his Focus has slipped down to 12th o/.a. Jer O`Donovan has had a good clean run this afternoon to hold his position as top group N contender. Stephen Carey is still 2nd GpN and leading class 3 in his Civic. Stephen admitted that there is something about the Mt Gabriel stage that he just cannot crack and his times have not been good there on the two runs so far. Jason McSweeney`s Lancer has a slight manifold leak and he is losing a small bit of time. Andy Mahon in the Escort at No.28 is leading his class despite his Escort having a slight misfire which hopefully he can sort out at service.

In the Junior category Kevin Eves/Chris Melly in their Corolla lead after stage 4 from Conor Moore/Ella Ryan in their Civic by 55s. Reportedly Kevin Eves is driving with great flair and speed over the stages.
