The situation at the top of this Colm Quinn BMW backed Galway International Rally has changed again with the news that Garry Jennings has put his Subaru into and out of a field in stage 8 Bradys Yard. Declan & Brian Boyle are still running first on the road in their Subaru, and the very fast nature of the road caused the Impreza coolant to again pressurise. This is giving Declan real cause for concern. Garry Jennings was next to go but his Subaru hit a fairly decent sized flood of water just down the road from the start. The Impreza catapulted into a field. Garry managed to get it turned and back on to the road but was facing in the wrong direction. He then had to get the car turned somehow which he did and finished the stage 40s in arrears of Declan Boyle. The front of Garry`s Subaru has extensive cosmetic damage but no structural damage that we know of. The episode knocked Donagh Kelly out of his stride somewhat, but he still finished the stage in good style, 1s up on Sam Moffett. Sam reported that his Fiesta WRC was on the rev limiter in the stage. Steve Simpson continues to hold 5th place but was over 10s in arrears of Donagh Kelly so making no impression on the cars in front.

Josh Moffett is 6th o/a. It would appear that his Lancer is not running in the Group N category as we mistakenly believed, but is in class 5 for R4 cars as the glass windows have been changed for perspex. This means that Colm Murphy, although down to 7th o/a following the wishbone damage and puncture on his Impreza, leads Group N from Stephen McCann with Eugene Meegan 3rd, Martin Doherty 4th and Brendan Cumiskey 5th.

In the National Rally Declan Gallagher in his Starlet continues to set fastest Nat. times from Wesley Patterson with Pat Kelly 3rd. David Quigley slipped from 7th to 8th when his Civic sustained a puncture on the Bradys Yard stage. David did well to change the offending wheel in around about a minute.
