`Kept it neat and tidy` was how Garry Jennings described his run through stage 3. Garry has a 5s advantage on Derek McGarrity and 10s on Kenny McKinstry, that in Lurgan Park terms is a lot. Second placed Derek McGarrity really pushed through that 3rd stage and he said. `There is not much left in this wee car`. Derek also said that he had been losing time on the gravel sections, and was going to put some extra cuts in the Mini`s tyres to try to counteract that. We mentioned earlier that Kenny McKinstry was in turbo troubles with his Subaru, he has fitted a different control valve that is making the car very wild, but at least he has boost. One of his mechanics is bringing another valve from Kenny`s Banbridge workshop, one of out of Martin Cairns` S14, and that should make the car easier to drive. Kenny is fully aware that unless something untoward happens to the cars in front he has little chance now of winning.

Kevin Barrett is having a good run in his Subaru, but says he is not brave enough over the gravel sections. Kevin he is still getting his head around the fact that the S14 is a `non-active` Impreza whereas he was used to his Subaru`s doing a lot for him over the years. Jonny Leonard reckons his Lancer is lacking a bit of grunt out of the square corners. Shane McGirr is building up his pace in his little Starlet and he said. `It is hard to judge the stages here in Lurgan Park`. Keith White found that to his cost having set a great pace over the opening 2 stages. He has clipped a front wheel of his Mk1 Escort against a bale and deranged the steering dropping at least 10s. Robert Bunting in his Subaru is here for the first time and he missed a couple of gears on that run.

Stage 2 was stopped after the first 20 or so cars when Simon Gordon/Billy Regan crashed their Astra into the bushes at the fast section past the lake. Simon and Billy have been taken to hospital for observation. James Gillen damaged a wheel on his Subaru in stage 2 and stopped. Gareth Sayers in his Lancer also stopped following an incident. Ian Millar stopped at the start line of SS3 with a mechanical problem in his Mk2 Escort. Drew Wylie`s Escort was suffering from a misfire but seems to be cured. Raymond Johnston continues to lead the Historics in his Escort from Stephen Mawhinney (Sunbeam Lotus). Drew Wylie is now 3rd.
