Following a great day of family motorsport and entertainment here in Craigavon Borough Council`s Lurgan Park Garry Jennings has won this Orchard Motorsport backed event for the 2nd time. Garry, co driven by Michael Moran, powered his Subaru into the lead on the very first stage and consolidated that throughout the day. Derek McGarrity/James McKee gave their new Mini WRC a significant debut by holding 2nd place all the way. Derek McGeehan/Laurie Smyth gave it everything over the last stage to keep Kenny McKinstry at bay and take 3rd o/a. Kenny did not seem too disappointed with his 4th place and he said. `At least we got the car going right`. Garry Jennings commented before he went to the finish ramp. `A good result, great battle today, fair play to the motor club`. Derek McGarrity said. `It was a very good day. I am happy enough with the car. The steering and stopping is brilliant but it is still a 1600 and I need more grunt`.

The Worshipful the Mayor of Craigavon, Colin McCusker, spent the whole at the Park with his family and was the first to congratulate the successful crews on their achievements. He even enjoyed a blast through the stages in a rally car!

Pat O`Connell/Kieran Carroll survived a bent steering problem with their Lancer to win the group N category that made their trip from Co. Tipperary very worthwhile. Wesley Patterson/Johnny Baird had a brilliant run to finish best Escort, best 2 wheel drive and class 4 winners. Frank Kelly upped the anti over the last couple of stages to wet fastest Escort times, but had to be content with 2nd at the end. Stephen & Joanne Mawhinney won class 7 for the Historics in their Sunbeam Lotus while Drew Wylie/Stephen Cartwright took class 8 in the Historics. Shane McGirr won cl.3 and Alan Smyth cl.2.

Finally for now very well done to CoC Barry Taggart and his very hardworking North Armagh MC team for putting on another very enjoyable rally. It is a huge undertaking for all concerned and the spirit of cheerfulness amongst all the officials was once again very noticeable and added greatly to the enjoyment of the event.
