Stage 4 brought no real changes to the top end of the leaderboard although Patrick Elliott extended his advantage by another 2s over Niall Maguire. Kevin Barrett was 4s slower than Maguire through the stage and he remains in 3rd place. None of the top drivers reported any problems.

Kevin Kelleher was fastest GpN car through the stage but Kevin has a fair bit to pull back on GpN leader Garry Jennings. Kelleher reported his car to be handling badly after stage 3 but in stage 4 he reported all well. Garry is having problems with 1st gear on his Lancer. Dave Weston had a good run in his Impreza, just 3s down on Jennings through 4.

In the Mk2 Escort battle Mike Quinn was again fastest with a time of 4.02. Arthur Kierans had a 4.14. David Percy in the Escort Maxi did 4.21.

Matthew Wilson was on intermediate tyres for that 4th stage and set a cracking time. He was well pleased with the change in ride height with the new Fiesta. Marty McCormack in the Citroen was on dry weather tyres but got caught in heavy rain at stage start, his Citroen 6s down on Wilson. Marty is hoping that his tyre choice will suit the 2nd and 3rd stages in the loop better. Andrew Hockridge was 5s down on Marty, his total 27.03. James Travers continues to lead Cl.3 in his GpN Clio and had another good time in stage 4. Adrian Evans in the Escort at No.20 reported a slipping clutch and a misfire at high revs. Sam Smyth at No.23 had an overshoot in the stage and had to reverse.
