The stage route was changed a little for stages 3 and 4 but it doesn’t seem to have made any real difference to the status quo at the top with McKinstry fastest from Eugene Donnelly. Darren Gass was 3rd fastest and McGarrity 4th. Perhaps there was a small difference in that McKinstry was just half a second up on Donnelly but the fact remains that Eugene hasn’t reversed the slide. Kenny said at stage finish. “I had a good clean run”. Eugene Donnelly commented. “Really enjoyed that”. McGarrity said. “Don’t know where they are getting the times from”. Darren Gass looked slightly sheepish at stage finish as his co driver Connor McCloskey explained. “We’ve been driving with the anti lag on number one and it should have been on number 3!” Glenn Allen lost a little bit of momentum on that stage because he stalled his Corolla WRC on the start line.

Scottish visitor Billy McClelland was another one to lose a little on that stage 3 when he had a half spin in his old model GpA Lancer. Still, McClelland is doing a remarkable job so far. Mark Doyle continues to do a remarkable job in his Celica up there in 6th o/a. When asked about the clutch problem he said the unit is on its last legs and a gentle enquiry about his wife, who is co driving for the first time and was giggling at the start, elicited the response from Mark. “She’s gone very quiet I don’t know whether that’s good or bad!” John McKeown was a little disappointed to drop a couple of seconds to his team mate Brian Dowey through that 3rd stage. Raymond Johnson was fastest of the GpN runners and he said that he changed his front tyres and went on to a harder rubber and the braking was a little bit better. The ambient temperature is of course rising now so we will maybe find other drivers going on to a hard compound tyre. Alan Ring turned in a relatively good GpN time, the Killarney man said he is now settling down. Another visitor to the Park, Ray Brammer, reckoned he was going backwards on that stage, his total is now 6.00.7 which is just inside the top 15. Seamus O’Connell reckons his BDA engine isn’t picking up well through the corners. Seamus is running in the Historic section which is still being led by Phillip Hunter in his Escort.
