8th (9) Ed Synan/.Denis O'Connell (Escort) 23.34

Anthony O’Halloran set fastest time through his home Dromore stage, which skirts along his village Ruan. Anthony dropped time however in the middle stage of the loop, Father Ted’s, where he lost a bit of confidence in his notes over the high speed section. Otherwise Anthony’s Lancer is performing well and he could yet make a challenge on rally leader Niall Maguire’s advantage. Niall was a wee bit perturbed to find his Subaru brakes grabbing, a little inconsistent, on the last 2 stages. However, he was fastest on stages 1 and 2.

Mike Quinn felt his Escort rear tyres going off very badly and he had to ease back. Donegal man Trevor Bustard was in the same situation. If anything Trevor was even more affected as he had some cuts in his rear tyres. Craig Breen set a good time through stage 3, his Fiesta obviously performing really well. Tim Enright in the Lancer at No.19 told us that he is just a little out of practice. His total now is 24.21. Ed O’Callaghan had a very good run in his Escort and his times have been ultra competitive through stages 2 and 3.

PJ Bonnar lost time when his Escort suffered a broken manifold in stage 3. David Percy in the Formula 2 Escort forgot to fit the anti roll bar and he reported the car to be poor over the many major jumps. Vincent O’Shea made it into service well down the order, his Escort Cosworth still suffering from a misfiring engine and Vincent thinks it may be a faulty crank shaft sensor. Raymond Conlan in the black Corolla twin cam has set 3 good times over the opening loop and it looks as if he will be into the top 10 and very much a contender in class 13.

Some further times include: Aidan Walsh 24.22: Tim Enright 24.21: Richard Burke 24.48:
