Darren Gass stretched the legs of his McKinstry Impreza over stages two and three with fastest times on both stages leaving him 19 seconds ahead of GpN leader John McGlaughlin. Darren described the stages as “tricky enough” and he is pleased with his pace and performance. Early rally leader John McGlaughlin told us he was lucky to be here after a big moment in stage two “there was a fast right hand bend and we went out over the grass, very lucky to get away with it but there was a huge bang and we punctured a rear tyre”. John then went on the say that the brain has once again started to fail and it seems to get worse as it gets warmer. Stuart Biggerstaff has moved up to third in his Impreza and has put in a strong performance over stages two and three setting third fastest time on stage two and another strong show on stage three and they report no problems with the car.

Camillus Bradley and Damien Toner are tied for fourth place and share the 2wd lead. Camillus feels that he is getting going following his first stage spin and reckons there is more to come while Damien Toner reported a spin on stage two. Drew Stuart is having electrical problems after a wire came off the alternator on his Escort while Michael Conlon feels his Escort engine is clogging up on the road sections. Davy Armstrong still has no brakes and his having to pump the brake peddle and use the handbrake to get his car slowed. Both Davy Armstrong and Finton McGrady encountered sheep on the second stage.

In GpN John McGlaughlin leads from championship leader Mark Donnelly who is having a trouble free run. The same could not be said for Brendan Cumiskey whose Lancer has no centre diff pressure making the car very nervous underbracing. Cyril Doherty shot the tyres on his Impreza after he had two big overshoots and suffered serious flat spots. Clive Kilpatrick seems to have sorted his turbo boost but had a big spin in stage two and got wedged between two banks.
