There was a dramatic finish to this Donegal Harvest Rally as Garry Jennings who had led the rally from the start struggled through the final stage with broken front suspension on his Subaru. Also in trouble on the final stage was last year’s winner Niall Maguire. He was heading for 3rd place today but his Subaru also broke its suspension. Niall was forced to retire. Garry Jennings had a real struggle to get his Impreza into the Jackson's Hotel finish. He managed it to take a memorable victory. Garry and his co driver Neil Doherty led the rally from the start and set fastest times on 8 stages until the broken suspension intervened at the end. For 32 year old Garry from Kesh this has been his most significant rally result. Seamus Leonard and his co driver John McCafferty had a great run to finish 2nd, even if there was a hint of disappointment having got so close to victory at the end. Indeed, there was some confusion over times at the finish ramp that took a few minutes to sort out.

Gary McPhillips/James McNulty overcame a few niggly problems on the first few stages of the rally but then had a fantastic run throughout the day to finish 3rd o/a and win class 14. John and James Cairns had the 2nd fastest time through stage 9, just 1s down on Seamus Leonard, to surge through and take 4th place in their Subaru. Declan & Brian Boyle overcame some gearbox troubles with their Escort to finish 2nd in class 14 which should be good enough to clinch the Border C/ship for the Glenties crew.

Pat Kirk/Peter Ward had a very accomplished run to win GpN in their Lancer with Stuart Darcy/Leon Jordan 2nd in the category in a similar Lancer. Trevor & Kenny Bustard were 3rd in GpN. Looking outside this Donegal Harvest Rally Kris Meeke/Paul Nagle have won the Costa Smeralda Rally in their Peugeot UK S2000. They were fastest on 5 out of 7 stages.
