The above times are from the first few cars only. There could be some of the later numbers coming into the picture now that the roads have dried. Certainly Desi Henry/John Rowan in their Citroen C2R2 were 6th o/a after stage 3. Because they are running so far back they were not shown in the initial top 10 results at last service.
Kenny McKinstry set a blistering pace this time over stage 4, the 2nd run over the Slievegallion test. Kenny was 40s faster than his first run over the stage and he said. “We had a bit of a go that time and everything worked well”. Similarly George Robinson commented. “We were going harder and we had a few hairy moments”.
Seamus Heron/Gerry McVeigh were up to 2nd after stag3 3 but they have crashed the McGeehan Corolla on a square corner on stage 4. Derek was next along in his Escort and seeing his lovely car crumpled against a bank knocked him off his stride a bit and he dropped 43s to Adrian Hetherington in that stage. We were actually a bit down from the stage finish and did not see Camillus Bradley come out of the stage. We are waiting for news on rally sponsor Camillus. Callum Duffy decided to withdraw his Escort because of the engine flooding problem. It was a long way to travel from the isle of Mull for Callum to do just 3 stages. Sean Haveron had a decent enough time through the stage. He has the brakes fixed on his Escort Cosworth but thinks now that the turbo is going.
News from the 29km 12th stage in Sardinia is that Ogier was fastest. Loeb still leads by 26s from Hirvonen, Ogier is 2s down on that and Peter Solberg a further 3s back. There are 2 stages left today. On the Manx National Rally Melvyn Evans leads from George Collister. Paul Bird has retired.
