Niall Maguire/Barry Goodman were fastest through stage 3 despite their Subaru having a soft brake pedal. In overall terms Tim McNulty/Paul Kiely hold the advantage 24s up on Maguire. McNulty reported the stages still slippy although drying out a little. There are still places where there are high banks and tree cover where there it is still damp and greasy. Kevin Barrett needs to finish 2nd here today to keep his Championship hopes alive. However, following a 2nd fastest time in stage 2 he dropped a few seconds in stage 3 when his Subaru overshot a junction.

Josh Moffett in 4th has had a brilliant run so far to lead Group N in his Lancer. Top Part West Coast Championship points leader Mike Quinn has set really good times over the first loop. Indeed this is one of Mike’s best performances of the season. Mike has fitted Proflex suspension to the rear of his Escort and he feels that it is handling a lot better and gives him more confidence. Wesley Patterson in 6th place, 2nd in cl.14 to Mike Quinn, lost time in stage 3 with an overshoot at a junction. It was a real tight hairpin right over crest and we think quite a few drivers lost time at the same tricky junction. Sam Moffett in 7th place, 2nd in GpN, fitted new suspension today but is finding it very difficult to get accustomed to. It is the same suspension as his brother Josh uses so there is obviously nothing wrong with it. Sam feels it just needs a few clicks to stiffen it up.

Ed O’Callaghan in 8th place had a bit of a moment in stage 2 when his Escort got on the grass, otherwise he is going well. Washington James rounds off the top 10 but really his Darrian must be quite a handful on these slippy roads. He also lost a few seconds when he stalled the car at the start of SS2.

Frank Kelly & Liam Brennan are lying 11th o/a, 2nd in cl.13 to Ed O’Callaghan. Frank made a slow start on the opening stage and then was told by his tyre man that he was not being aggressive enough with the tyres, not getting heat into them. So Frank has tried being a bit more brutal and it has worked. Frank was very courageous anyway picking dry weather tyres for the rear of his Escort, his co driver Liam Breen remarking. “It’s the Jack Russell in him!” John McQuaid/Seamus O’Connor lost almost 7m in stage 3 when their Escort overshot a junction, careered down a narrow lane and got stuck. Anthony O’Halloran is holding a very good 9th o/a and said. “I’m finding it hard to commit. I’ve no idea what way the car is going to brake or handle. It’s 4 years since I drove it. But I though I’d be a lot worse today”.
